Relationship with Helston Rugby Club
We are proud to have sponsored the under-11 group team for several years now in addition to offering to sponsor the Helston Vixens Women’s rugby team. The father of our Head of Sales, Lloyd Harris, was even one of the founding members of the club back in the 1970s! We also have two advertising boards with the club, one on the perimeter sponsoring the scoreboard and the other out on the roundabout just outside. Outside of supporting with sponsorship, we have also provided our professional services to the club when they were in need of a set of bi-fold doors which we installed a few years ago. When their rear emergency door failed last year, we were also happy to replace this with a uPVC exit door in addition to supplying the glass for the patio area outside.
The obvious choice
Our support of the club and successful portfolio of previous work with them meant we were the first and obvious choice when it came to replacing the club’s front door. We first discussed the replacement of the front door a couple of years ago after having to visit and service it on multiple occasions. Eventually, it got to the point where we were unable to rectify some of the issues as they were beyond economical repair. It was at this point we began discussing options and styles with the club for a better alternative.
The brief
Like everything, we needed to keep the cost down for the club, but we also needed to install commercial-grade aluminium doors. These would cope well with the amount of footfall the club has, particularly over the busy weekends when matches are happening and there are lots of people coming to watch. After deciding early on that the doors would have to be designed to handle a high volume of footfall, we chose a high-traffic commercial door system from ALUK. Overcoming challenges
As with lots of projects, this door replacement didn’t come without its challenges. We originally agreed to have panels rather than glass in the top section side panels of the door. This would allow for a nice area to display adverts and marketing materials for the club, however, we soon changed our minds. Upon installation, we both agreed that we should replace these with glass to allow more light into the entranceway. We did this and upon reflection, it was the right decision, even if it did mean having to change our original plans.
