Window repairs and servicing in Cornwall

Whether it's sealing issues, stiff windows, misting issues or broken hinges, at Collingtons our dedicated Cornwall service team are always here to help. Leaving issues like this, especially in coastal locations can cause damp and condensation issues, poor ventilation and draughts that can result in loss of heat and colder overnight household temperatures.

Here are a few common window issues, with a brief description on what you should look out for if you experience them.

Draughty windows

Draughty windows can often affect the temperature of your household resulting in colder and less comfortable rooms. If you notice a  breeze, its best to give us a call so we can get to the root cause of the problem. Escaping heat can often result in expensive heating bills so don’t delay.

Misty windows

Often caused by condensation or glass seal issues, misty windows can be very unsightly and often we’re not sure what causes it or how to prevent it. Call our team of service engineers who can assess your window and advise on the best solution for the problem.

Do my windows need resealing?

There are many factors that can contribute to broken window seals and if you notice any of the following signs, you should get some expert advice.

  • Condensation on the internal pane of glass,

  • Window draughts,

  • Noticeable wear and tear around the window seals

An engineer will help determine the cause of these issues and advise whether resealing is possible. Unfortunately there are times when you may just need replacement windows due to age and wear. Call our team of service engineers for some honest friendly advice.

Broken hinge

Are you having trouble opening and closing your windows ? If so, then this could be down to a broken hinge which could have been caused by forced opening, hinges dropping or installation issues. In this case, it’s best to give the team a call, we can assess the window, determine the cause and advise you on the best solution.

We recommend having your windows serviced annually to ensure your windows are working properly and that all your hinges, mechanisms and gaskets are in good working order. Call the team to book a service visit. Remember prevention is better than cure !!

Seized windows

Seized windows can be caused by low maintenance or lack of servicing. Its important to ensure your windows are regularly serviced to avoid problems like this. If you have a seized window issue it will need an assessment and possibly replacement parts, call us to book a service visit.

Doors hard to lock/ open

Draughty, leaky or hard to lock doors? Following an initial assessment, the team will be able to advise on the best solution and are often able to fix the problem there and then. Quite often the solution is much easier than we think and a replacement door is not necessarily what we need.

All of our quotations are free charge and if we can’t fix it we will leave you with some honest advice to help you deal with the problem. Call us to book a service visit on 01326 572599.
